Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Hardware Technician – Platform / Validation to support hardware engineering, system validation, debugging, and laboratory activities for advanced computing and storage platforms. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with PCB rework, hardware debugging, system setup, electrical validation, and laboratory equipment.

The Hardware Technician will work closely with hardware design and validation engineers to set up test environments, execute validation procedures, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, collect and analyze test measurements, and maintain lab equipment and hardware inventory. The role requires strong attention to detail, technical troubleshooting skills, and the ability to follow structured test procedures accurately.

Key Responsibilities

• Support hardware design, debug, and validation activities for computing, storage, and platform hardware.
• Perform PCB/component-level rework, including component replacement, soldering, and modification of circuit boards as required.
• Assist hardware engineers with electrical hardware debugging and validation.
• Set up and configure hardware platforms, test systems, cables, fixtures, power supplies, and other laboratory equipment.
• Execute predefined hardware and electrical validation test procedures accurately and consistently.
• Use laboratory equipment such as:
  • Digital Multimeters (DMM)
  • Oscilloscopes
  • Logic Analyzers
  • Power Supplies
  • Electronic measurement and diagnostic equipment
• Take electrical measurements, record test results, and assist engineers in analyzing validation data.
• Troubleshoot hardware, firmware, driver, operating system, and system-level issues encountered during validation.
• Configure and maintain Windows and Linux-based host systems used for hardware testing.
• Assist with system imaging, firmware updates, driver installation, and hardware/software configuration.
• Support platform bring-up, functional testing, reliability testing, and validation activities.
• Maintain accurate documentation of test results, hardware configurations, issues, and troubleshooting activities.
• Follow established engineering procedures, safety guidelines, and laboratory protocols.
• Support hardware lab management, including equipment organization, maintenance, calibration status, and availability.
• Maintain accurate inventory of hardware, components, cables, fixtures, tools, and laboratory equipment.
• Coordinate with hardware, validation, firmware, software, and engineering teams to resolve test and debug issues.
• Identify recurring hardware or test issues and escalate complex problems to appropriate engineering teams.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent technical education in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in hardware testing, validation, troubleshooting, or a related technical environment. Relevant coursework, laboratory work, research, internships, or practical experience may also be considered.
• Hands-on experience with PCB rework and component-level troubleshooting.
• Experience debugging electrical/electronic hardware and identifying hardware-related issues.
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems and host-system configuration.
• Experience setting up hardware test environments and executing defined test procedures.
• Working knowledge of laboratory equipment, including:
  • Digital Multimeter (DMM)
  • Oscilloscope
  • Logic Analyzer
  • Power Supply
• Ability to read and understand basic electrical schematics, circuit diagrams, and hardware documentation.
• Ability to accurately perform electrical measurements and document test results.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to follow technical instructions and detailed validation procedures accurately.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with hardware engineers and cross-functional technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with computer hardware, server platforms, storage systems, SSDs, or data-center hardware.
• Experience supporting hardware platform validation, system bring-up, or electrical validation.
• Experience with Intel-based or enterprise computing platforms.
• Hands-on experience with soldering, desoldering, component replacement, and PCB modification.
• Experience with firmware flashing, BIOS/UEFI configuration, driver installation, and system imaging.
• Experience troubleshooting hardware issues across Windows and Linux environments.
• Familiarity with high-speed digital interfaces and protocols such as PCIe, SATA, NVMe, USB, I2C, SPI, or SMBus.
• Experience using hardware debug and diagnostic tools.
• Familiarity with test automation, scripting, or command-line utilities.
• Experience maintaining laboratory equipment, calibration records, and hardware inventories.
• Knowledge of hardware validation methodologies, test plans, and failure analysis.
• Experience working in a structured engineering laboratory or data-center environment.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with engineering and validation teams.
