Job Description
We are seeking a PC Hardware / Lab Operations Technician with 4–6 years of experience in PC hardware troubleshooting, system configuration, operating system installation, networking, and server management. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a controlled lab environment, following technical procedures, executing software installations and tests, documenting results, and supporting hardware and lab configuration changes.
Key Responsibilities
- Debug and troubleshoot PC hardware platforms, systems, and components.
- Build, configure, and maintain PC hardware systems according to technical specifications.
- Install, configure, and operate various PC operating systems, including Windows Server, Windows XP/Vista, Linux, and NetWare.
- Execute predefined software installations, system configurations, and hardware tests in a controlled lab environment.
- Accurately document system configurations, test procedures, results, and troubleshooting activities.
- Follow technical instructions and procedures carefully and accurately.
- Perform basic networking and server management activities.
- Assist with laboratory layout changes, including rewiring network/hardware configurations and machine placement.
- Support day-to-day lab operations and ensure systems remain properly configured and operational.
- Collaborate effectively with engineering, technical, and lab teams.
Required Qualifications
- 4–6 years of relevant experience in PC hardware, system configuration, lab operations, or technical support.
- Hands-on experience debugging PC hardware platforms and building/configuring systems.
- Experience installing and running multiple operating systems, including Windows, Windows Server, Linux, and/or NetWare.
- Experience with networking and server management.
- Ability to execute predefined installation and testing procedures accurately.
- Strong documentation and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to follow detailed technical directions and procedures.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong teamwork and problem-solving abilities.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required for U.S. candidates.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a hardware/software testing lab or controlled technical environment.
- Experience with lab infrastructure, equipment placement, cabling, and rewiring.
- Familiarity with system-level troubleshooting and hardware diagnostics.
- Experience maintaining test environments and documenting test configurations.
- Ability to work independently while following established technical processes.
