Role Description Summary

The NAND Semiconductor Test Lab Engineer is responsible for providing day-to-day operational support for NAND Memory Test Laboratories by ensuring efficient operation, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and optimization of semiconductor automated test equipment. The role supports engineering teams by maintaining laboratory readiness, ensuring compliance with safety standards, executing preventive maintenance, and enabling successful product development through accurate test execution and equipment reliability.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Laboratory Operations & Safety

  • Provide daily operational support across assigned NAND semiconductor laboratory toolsets and automated test equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with all laboratory safety procedures, environmental regulations, and company policies.
  • Conduct and support routine laboratory safety audits.
  • Manage hazardous materials and chemical inventories in accordance with site, local, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient laboratory environment.

Semiconductor Test Equipment Operation

  • Operate and support Advantest M67xxAD Automated Handler and Advantest Tester Systems.
  • Operate Teradyne Nextest Magnum Test Systems within Windows-based user interface environments.
  • Configure semiconductor automated test systems by installing Device Specific Adapters (DSAs), Change Kits, and interface hardware.
  • Interpret tester module hardware requirements and establish automated processing configurations at specified operating temperatures.
  • Execute tester diagnostics and identify failures down to board-level components.
  • Perform voltage, timing, and thermal calibration in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specifications.
  • Operate and maintain tester chiller systems and facility chilled water distribution systems.

Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on semiconductor test equipment and handlers.
  • Execute thermal calibration and equipment verification activities according to maintenance schedules.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve standard and complex hardware, software, interface, and equipment-related issues with minimal supervision.
  • Diagnose and resolve Advantest Handler pick-and-place errors to ensure uninterrupted material processing.
  • Assume ownership of assigned test equipment, measurement tools, calibration schedules, and overall equipment health.

Semiconductor Test Support

  • Demonstrate understanding of Semiconductor Memory Tester Architecture and configure tester hardware appropriately.
  • Support semiconductor product development activities by ensuring timely material processing and accurate data collection.
  • Utilize laboratory workflow tools to manage incoming and outgoing engineering samples.
  • Track and maintain inventory of interface hardware and laboratory tooling.
  • Generate technical documentation including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), troubleshooting guides, flowcharts, calibration records, and procedural documentation.

Reliability, Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Apply Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) principles to maximize equipment performance and laboratory efficiency.
  • Monitor equipment utilization, downtime, and performance metrics while reporting findings to internal stakeholders and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, equipment uptime, process optimization, and operational excellence.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and proactive decision-making while supporting engineering and production priorities.

Collaboration & Training

  • Provide technical guidance and equipment training to engineers, technicians, and test development personnel.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Management, and Finance teams to support laboratory planning, material forecasting, and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Contribute to cross-functional problem-solving activities and laboratory process improvements.

Education Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical Engineering (EEE), Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Diploma holders with relevant hands-on experience in Semiconductor Testing or Automated Test Equipment (ATE) may also be considered.
  • Relevant certifications or specialized training in Semiconductor Test Systems, Automated Test Equipment (ATE), or Reliability Engineering will be an added advantage.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3–8 years of experience supporting Semiconductor Test Laboratories or Memory Test Operations.
  • Experience working with NAND Flash Memory products and Automated Test Equipment (ATE).
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing, product development, validation, and qualification processes.
  • Knowledge of Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) methodologies.
  • Familiarity with laboratory quality systems, EHS standards, and OEM equipment maintenance requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing technical documentation.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively within cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated initiative, accountability, and commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
