AWS Data Engineer — Open Data Platform Initiative

About the Role We are seeking an AWS Data Engineer to support an Open Data Platform initiative. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and cloud-based data infrastructure that enable reliable access to open data assets. You will work closely with stakeholders to ensure data is ingested, transformed, stored, and delivered efficiently across the platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement ETL and ELT pipelines on AWS
• Build and maintain data ingestion workflows from multiple sources
• Develop scalable data models and storage solutions for analytics and reporting
• Optimize data processing performance, reliability, and cost
• Support data quality checks, monitoring, and troubleshooting
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver platform enhancements

Required Qualifications

• Strong experience with AWS services for data engineering
• Hands-on experience with SQL and data pipeline development
• Knowledge of data warehousing and distributed data processing
• Experience with Python or a similar scripting language
• Familiarity with orchestration, automation, and cloud infrastructure best practices
• Ability to work effectively in a remote or hybrid environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with open data platforms or public sector data initiatives
• Familiarity with Spark, Glue, Lambda, S3, Redshift, or similar tools
• Experience with data governance, metadata, or cataloging tools
